With an upper triangle of smoky grey, the of smoke & stone shawl’s pale slip stitch section transitions into a border echoing a lacy tracery of repeating stone arches.
It’s a satisfying pattern, and a great introduction to slip stitches and lace. It uses two skeins each of two colors, and can also be knit in yak/silk.
The top uses a T increase to present a beautiful smooth triangle, and the charts (with written instructions also included) are straightforward and repeatable so that the shawl can be enlarged as desired. The edging is finished up with a stretchy bind-off that leaves a sturdy edge. It’s perfect for a walk in the city, either worn as a scarf or an accent piece.
